Increased member contributions
SULS is about you. I want to find ways for our members to be able to contribute to SULS not only via the events and programs that we create, but also via our governance programs. I want to make clear to you how you can contribute to SGM and AGM motions, so that you can have your ideas heard. I want SULS to receive and learn from your feedback, by establishing a feedback forum (for instance, via a Google Form) where you can provide your ideas and suggestions. I also want to invite you to provide your input in the SULS Newsletters, whether that be by submitting memes or mini games to be included in the newsletters, or by advertising events which you believe to be relevant to the student body.
Ensuring information is clear and accessible
You deserve to access and understand the administrative decisions which govern how SULS is run. I want to use our social media to communicate relevant information in a more accessible fashion, and update the website so that it is easy to navigate anything and everything you need to know about SULS whenever suits you. Most importantly, I want to make the newsletter easy to understand at a glance. It is so easy to get bogged down in all of the information swarming your inbox. Sometimes you miss it, sometimes an event is sent to you the morning of, and sometimes it doesn’t get to you at all. That’s why I want to build on the weekly Instagram stories to include weekly calendar summaries in the Newsletter explaining everything happening that week. Quick, easy, accessible, and helping you to make the most out of the SULS events and resources.
Fostering an inclusive SULS Office
The SULS office is a space in which everyone deserves to feel welcome. I want to maintain the office as a space that is welcoming, with more chairs, decorations, and better lighting! In addition, the office is a space for you to use. I want to keep it tidy, ensure the microwave is clean and working, keep supplies, including tissues and sanitary items, stocked up, and, importantly, make sure we have plenty of phone and laptop chargers available for use within the office. I care about the office being a space that you can make the most of, that you can relax in between classes, and that you can socialise in, whether you previously knew anyone there or not.
Establishing an Electoral Review Committee
The SULS electoral practices have not been updated for almost 10 years. In that time, the way that SULS elections operate has transformed from in person campaigning and paper ballots, to social media pages, messaging, and online voting. I want to establish a committee made up of you, our members, to review the way our elections run. I want you to have your voice heard, and your feedback implemented. And, most importantly, I want to implement practices that ensure that your SULS elections are as smooth, efficient and as fair as possible.
